The 90th anniversary of the founder of the Siberian School
of phthisiatricians, corresponding member of the Russian
Academy of Medical Sciences, Igor G.
Ursov, has served as an occasion for a meeting in Novosibirsk
of more than 280 specialists from TB services in Russia and other countries to
discuss the accelerated application of innovative techniques in diagnosing and
treating tuberculosis.

This year, the World TB Day will be held under the slogan "Unite to eliminate TB!" In the European Region, the focus will be on combating TB / HIV co-infection. This topic was defined in the light of the fact that according to the latest data, the countries of the WHO European Region have an extremely high rate of TB / HIV co-infection, along with an increase in the death rate among people with TB / HIV co-infection. This runs counter to the trend of reducing the number of new cases and deaths from tuberculosis over the same period of time...

The meeting was jointly organized by the WHO Global TB Program and the European Respiratory Society and was held in Geneva, Switzerland on February 7-8, 2017. The meeting was attended by 60 specialists working in various programs to combat tuberculosis, in the field of electronic technologies, Funds, etc.

 In contrast to the specialized scientific portals, where publication by NTRI authors are well represented and the contribution is growing, it has been found that in "common" Internet on Russian there is a very little reliable information about the Russian TB Control, and especially about achievements of the Siberian TB doctors, or our scientists. In the English-speaking Internet the Russian scientists are not mentioned at all.
